Since its inception, Miles For Those We Miss has transformed heartfelt miles into meaningful support for Macmillan Cancer Support. Now we want to open it to the world to see what we can do as a collective.
Led by Will Goodge’s vision, many of his community have joined from around the world, but as of yet we have been unable to quantify the overall impact. This year that changes.
What started as a personal tribute has grown into a movement. Almost Seven years ago, this initiative began with a single Christmas Day marathon, raising funds for Macmillan in memory of my mum, running around the towns I grew up in and visiting special places to us a family.
I used the marathon as an excuse to get out of the usual days celebrations, because I was still grieving her loss too much to want to participate in such a ‘happy’ and family orientated day. When you have lost someone, the most special days can become the hardest. I was joined at points by my Dad and Brother as well as close family friends and we raised almost £20,000. It has become my origin story of how my life has unfolded since. Turning pain into power and making her passing more than just a sad story.
Today, Miles for Those We Miss invites anyone to join in. Whether you run a mile or a marathon, every step can be dedicated to someone you’ve lost while supporting a cause close to your heart if you choose. This is more than a run—it’s a chance to come together, share stories, and make a real impact for charities that matter.
By signing up, you’re part of a growing community proving that even in the toughest times, we can find strength, connection, and hope. Let’s turn miles into meaning this Christmas.
Miles for Those We Miss is not a charity — it’s a platform for individuals to take action, honour loved ones, and make a difference through their own efforts. Every runner’s story is their own, and we’re here to showcase their impacts. Support their journeys by donating generously to the featured charities.
Together, we can create meaningful change.
